Carol and Bud Adams

As a cradle Catholic who has been active in her faith throughout her lifetime, Carol Adams believes all parishioners need to contribute to the Church and parish life.

"I think it is vital for parishioners to contribute to the Church for it to be able to fund the important facets involved in education, including its teachers, both lay and clerical. Contributions of parishioners are also necessary for support of our priests, active and retired," she said. "Parishioners need to assume financial responsibility for the well-being of their church."

Carol has included her parish, St. Agnes in Weiser, in her will because she wanted to help them care for the physical upkeep of the parish after her death. "There are so many reasons for parishioners to pay their fair share of the expenses of a formed community and to tithe, it's quite beyond me to understand why it is not the first component of their budget," she said.

Carol was born in Remsen, Iowa, but moved to Weiser in 1969 with her husband, Bud. They have five children and have been married 64 years. "I strongly believe in home as the learning place for children for respect and love of God," she said.

For 13 years, even though she served as a Deputy County Clerk for Washington and Payette Counties and as a Presentence Investigator for the Idaho State Department of Corrections, she still found time to volunteer as parish secretary for St. Agnes. She continues to volunteer as a lay eucharistic minister, bringing communion to shut-ins, hospitals and nursing homes.

In 2015, she was named Woman of the Year by the Idaho Catholic Council of Women for her years of service to the Church and in the council.
